How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Andance

Andance lies nestled within the gentle embrace of the Ardèche, a commune defined by the quiet rhythm of the land and water. The Ruisseau de Cueil murmurs nearby, tracing a path toward the distant Rhône, while the slopes of Mont Levier rise softly on the horizon. This is a landscape of mistral-scoured ridges and the scent of box and thyme after rain, where the Plaine de Champlard opens into the wider countryside. Beyond the village, the nearby Bois Chiès offers shaded paths that speak of the ancient, enduring character of this regional earth.

Visitors seeking the echoes of the past will find the archaeological site of La Sarrasinière standing as a silent witness to time. Not far away, the Château de Thorrenc anchors the horizon, while the impressive Pile du Bac à Traille serves as a reminder of the river's historical importance. For a deeper understanding of the local heritage, the Musée des Mariniers du Rhône et de la Batellerie preserves the memory of those who once navigated these waters. Each site offers a glimpse into a world shaped by the patient hands of those who came before, set against the backdrop of the nearby Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat.
