How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Andancette

Andancette sits quietly along the banks of le Rhône, anchored by the expansive Plaine de Champlard and the nearby shelter of Bois de Roche. Beyond the commune, the landscape rises toward the distant silhouette of Mont Levier, while the proximity of the Parc Naturel Régional du Pilat hints at the rugged transition toward higher ground. It is a place defined by the steady presence of the river and the shifting shadows of the valley floor, where the air remains crisp and the pace of life follows the slow, deliberate turn of the water.

Visitors find the history of the river etched into the local landscape. The Pile du Bac à Traille stands as a silent testament to the ancient methods of crossing these currents, while the Église Saint-Pierre offers a quiet refuge within the village. A short journey away, the Tour d'Albon commands a view over the surrounding hills, and the Musée des Mariniers du Rhône et de la Batellerie preserves the memory of those who once navigated these waters. These landmarks anchor the visitor in a space where the river's influence remains constant.
