How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chazeaux

Chazeaux rests within the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche, where the land rises toward the heights of la Cham du Cros. The Ruisseau de Chazalet winds through a terrain marked by the scent of box and thyme after rain, bordered by the dense shade of the Bois de Vogüé. Nearby, the landscape holds the quiet weight of history, inviting exploration of the stone walls of Château de Montseveny or the remnants of Château de Joannas. Further afield, the silhouette of Mont Aigu defines the horizon, while the Col de la Croix de Millet offers a path through these ancient, schist-laden hills.
