How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Roumégoux

Roumégoux rests within the expansive embrace of the Bassin de la Dordogne, a landscape defined by the quiet flow of the Ruisseau de l'Étang and the textured presence of les Bessières woodland. Nearby, the water of the Lac du Barrage de Saint-Étienne-Cantalès mirrors the sky, while the horizon is anchored by the distant silhouette of the Puech d'Alau. Visitors may explore the rugged stone legacy of the Château des Bessonies, investigate the silence of the archaeological site at le Roc Rôti, or wander past the weathered walls of the Château de la Grillière. It is a place of deep soil and shadowed valleys, where the atmosphere feels carved by the ancient cycles of the plateau.
