How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Chessenaz

Chessenaz sits within the quiet folds of the Vuache, a landscape defined by the thin, bright air of the heights and the deep shadow of the mountain moving across the valley floor. Nearby, the Ruisseau de la Caralla carves its path toward the distant Rhône, while the Bois de la Donaz offers a dense canopy of spruce. Beyond the village, the landscape opens toward the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Jura. A short journey leads to the Barrage de Génissiat, a monument of engineering, or to the historic walls of the Château d'Arcine and the refined stone of the Château de Clermont.
