How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Arnay-le-Duc

Arnay-le-Duc rests within the undulating landscape of the Côte-d'Or, where the light catches the limestone escarpments and autumn mist lingers in the valleys. The nearby l'Arroux river shapes the quiet terrain, while the dense Bois de Boulère stands as a sentinel over the local fields. Beyond the village, the horizon is defined by the distant Montagne de Bard and the wilder granite reaches of the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan, offering a landscape of deep woods and shadow.

The village itself invites a slow pace, anchored by the elegant Château des Princes de Condé, which watches over the streets with a stoic grace. A short walk reveals the Maison Maugars, a structure that speaks to the vernacular history of the region. Further afield, the Étang Fouché provides a mirror for the sky, while the ancient Alignements du Camp de la Justice stand in the wider countryside, marking the land with stones that have weathered the centuries in silence.
