How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Étoges

Étoges rests within a landscape defined by the Ruisseau de Merlus and the tranquil waters of the Étang des Machefers. Here, the earth feels heavy with the scent of the nearby Bois de la Grande Laye, where chalky soil meets the expanse of open cereal plains. The atmosphere carries a hushed intensity, reminiscent of the still air found across the regional battlefields. Visitors may explore the elegant Château d'Etoges, while the imposing ruins of Le Mont-Aimé stand on the horizon. Nearby, the Menhir de l'étang de Chénevry offers a silent, ancient counterpoint to the vine-combed slopes that define the surrounding countryside.
