How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Damblain

Damblain rests on the plateau, a place where the forest edges right up to the fields and the red ochre stone holds the memory of ancient forges. Nearby, the Ruisseau de Follot threads through the landscape, while the quiet presence of the Forêt Domaniale de Morimond offers a deep, shaded sanctuary. A visitor might explore the ruins of the Abbaye de Morimond, where silence still clings to the stone, or look toward the distant summit of Mont Saint-Étienne rising on the horizon. The wider countryside, marked by the influence of the Meuse, invites a slow wander through this land of iron and salt.
