How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Critot

Critot sits quietly within the Plaine de Socquentot, a landscape defined by the soft, diffused light of Normandy and the rhythmic patterns of the bocage. Here, the land is etched by thick hedges and apple orchards, while the nearby Bois d'Yquebeuf and the slopes of the Mont à Cat offer a gentle topography shaped by ancient limestone. The river le Hareng meanders through the fields, a silver thread in a region defined by flint-built architecture and the steady presence of cattle in wet pastures. Visitors seeking discovery will find the Parc zoologique de Clères an enchanting garden of wildlife, the historic Château de Clères standing nearby, and the expansive Parc Naturel Régional des Boucles de la Seine Normande inviting deeper exploration of the rural heartland.
