How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Glénay

Glénay sits quietly within the Plaine des Vaux Roux, a landscape defined by the gentle rhythms of the land and the nearby presence of the river Thouaret. Here, the Bois de Biard offers cool shelter, while the horizon is marked by the distant heights of the Butte de Moncoué. Visitors can explore the immediate grounds of the Château de Glenay, where stone walls hold the silence of past centuries. A short journey leads to the imposing fortress of the Château d'Airvault or the intricate, Romanesque stone-carved façades of the Église Abbatiale Saint-Pierre, both standing as quiet witnesses to the history of this limestone country.
