How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Azillanet

Azillanet rests upon the limestone expanse of the Causse Grand, where the scent of box and thyme rises sharply after the rain. The Ruisseau des Perdigals winds through this rugged terrain, a landscape shaped by mistral-scoured ridges and the quiet presence of the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut Languedoc nearby. Nearby, the Grotte d'Aldène de la Coquille holds ancient shadows, while the Dolmen des Fades ou Palet de Roland stands as a silent witness to a distant past. Walking toward the woodland of la Bouissière, one finds the Vestiges de l'oppidum de Cayla, where the earth still speaks of stone and sheep tracks.
