How to Use This Map / Mode d'emploi

Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch between the street map and aerial imagery, and the + and − buttons to zoom. Click ⛶ Fullscreen for a larger view; press Escape or tap ✕ Exit Fullscreen to return.

OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.

Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.

📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.

Mode d'emploi.

About Galargues

Galargues sits nestled within a landscape defined by the resilient character of the Montagne d'Hortus and the nearby flow of la Bénovie. Here, the air carries the sharp, clean scent of box and thyme after a summer rain, drifting over the wooded expanse of Bois Rosier and the rise of Puech Carbonnier. In the wider countryside, the heritage of the region reveals itself through the imposing ruins of the Château de Montlaur, the enduring stone of the Enceinte de Boisseron, and the watchful silhouette of the Beffroi de Sommières. It is a place of quiet limestone ridges and ancient paths, anchored far from the coast yet breathing with the vast, wild memory of the nearby Camargue.

À propos de Galargues
