OFFICIAL FRENCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button opens a second map with three base layers: OSM (OpenStreetMap), Plan IGN — France's official national map from the Institut national de l'information géographique et forestière — and Photos, the IGN's aerial photography. Two overlays go over any of them: Contours, the IGN's contour lines, and Relief, hillshading from the RGE ALTI one-metre terrain model. The search box finds any place in France or beyond by name.
Click Grid to overlay the UTM grid — one-kilometre squares at normal zoom. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance plus the grid, true and magnetic bearing.
📍 My position takes a single GPS reading and shows it as an MGRS reference, as plain UTM, as Lambert-93 (the French national grid, EPSG:2154) and as latitude and longitude, with a Copy position button. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not.
Mode d'emploi.

Aynac rests within the limestone expanse of the Causse, a landscape of quiet ridges and hidden valleys where the Ruisseau de la Devèze traces its path through the earth. Nearby, the Bois de Largentié offers shaded stillness, while the wider horizon belongs to the Bassin de la Dordogne biosphere reserve. The village itself is anchored by the Château d'Aynac, a silent witness to the passage of time. A short journey leads to the profound depths of the Gouffre de Padirac or the historic Halle de Thémines, both standing as stark, evocative markers of this ancient, sun-drenched terrain where wheat fields meet the rocky soil.
