About Easton-in-Gordano

Easton-in-Gordano lies where the Bristol Channel's breath is carried inland on a west-south-westerly breeze. It lies 4.7 km east of Portishead (from Portishead: bearing 101°T, OS grid ST 514 756), and is situated west-south-west of Pill village. The land here, gently sloping towards the water, retains a certain agricultural quietude, a testament to centuries of cultivation under a sky that often holds the pearly luminescence of the coast. Ancient hedgerows, thick with hawthorn and bramble, trace the boundaries of fields where the soil, a rich, dark loam, has yielded its bounty for generations. The village itself, a scattering of stone and brick, seems to absorb the diffused light, the ancient church tower a stoic sentinel against the ever-changing hues of the estuary.
