Neds Top remains anchored to this ridge, a collection of homes that look out across a landscape shaped by centuries of mineral extraction and stubborn woodland regrowth. To the north, the silent, upright trunks of Cockshoot Wood stand as a dark barrier against the horizon, marking the boundary where the managed earth yields to wilder growth. The soil beneath the lanes is heavy with the iron-rich geology that once drove the local economy, leaving a faint, ochre stain on the stones after heavy rainfall.
