Beneath the earth, the labyrinthine passages of Clearwell Caves speak to a subterranean geography that long dictated the fortunes of those working above. The topography rises sharply toward Wort Hill, where the air grows thin and crisp, offering a vantage point over the ancient, scarred landscape. Residents of Sling live in the shadow of these geological complexities, where the boundary between the natural forest and the man-made excavations is blurred by decades of quiet regrowth. The local character is one of stoic independence, forged in the proximity of deep, dark mine shafts and the persistence of the encroaching wild.
