It lies 1.7 miles west-north-west of Bordon (from Bordon: bearing 285°T, OS grid SU 770 362), and is situated south-west of Kingsley village. The pale, thin light of the Hampshire sky often catches the surface of the Oakhanger Stream, which meanders through the damp earth just to the east. Nearby, the expansive Shortheath Common Sssi stretches out as a wild, boggy heathland, where the air hangs heavy with the scent of pine and decaying peat. Ancient, gnarled trees shadow the lanes, their roots clutching at the sandy soil that defines this corner of the county. Time seems to gather in the hollows here, far from the frantic pace of modern thoroughfares.
