Brighstone claims a quiet prominence upon the south-west coast of the Isle of Wight, where the salt-laden air softens the edges of its stone walls. It lies 6.0 miles south-west of Newport (from Newport: bearing 229°T, OS grid SZ 427 827), and is situated west of Shorwell village.
