SEARCH MAPS. The green 🔍 Search Maps button below the map opens a second, independent map on OpenStreetMap coverage of the whole country. Its search box finds any Italian comune, frazione, mountain or landmark by name, so you are not limited to Bergamo.
Reading the map like an IGM sheet. Click Grid to lay a labelled UTM grid over the map, quoted along the edges the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it — at normal zoom the squares are one kilometre across, so a six-figure reference can be read by eye and distance judged straight off the map. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance between them with the grid, true and magnetic bearings, the last being the one to set on a compass.
Click 📍 My position for a single GPS fix. It marks where you are and reports it as Gauss-Boaga (the grid printed on the IGM Carta d'Italia), as ETRS89 / UTM (the grid Italy uses today), and as plain latitude and longitude, with a copy button so it can be pasted into a message. It takes one reading and stops, to save the battery. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not — so the grid reference stays correct in the Apennines and the Alps, where the map itself often will not load.

The province of Bergamo, identified by the vehicle code BG, stretches from the flat plains to the steep, wooded slopes of the prealps. Across its two hundred and forty-three communes, one finds the Fiume Serio and Fiume Brembo carving through valleys like Valle Rossa. Near the centre, the Parco dei Colli di Bergamo offers a green lung, while summits like Pizzo di Lonno and I Corni define the horizon. The light here catches the poplars in ranks along the water, grounding the landscape in a rhythmic, agricultural history. From the Roman era to its status as a contested frontier, the land has been shaped by the heavy toll of unification, leaving a legacy of resilience visible in the stone of its historic centres.
In the city of Bergamo, the skyline is anchored by the Accademia Carrara and the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. The Cappella Colleoni and the Battistero di Bergamo stand as testaments to a tradition of craftsmanship, while the Castello di San Vigilio watches over the urban sprawl. Further into the province, Treviglio hosts the Basilica di San Martino e Santa Maria Assunta and the Chiesa di San Pietro. These towns, including Seriate with its Chiesa Parrocchiale del Santissimo Redentore, balance ancient architecture with the modern demands of industry. The air feels crisp near the Riserva Naturale Oasi Wwf di Valpredina, where the quietude of the protected landscape contrasts with the busy lives of the larger towns.
Economy and daily life remain tethered to the terrain, from the textile traditions to the industrious pulse of places like Dalmine and Caravaggio. The landscape near the Lago di Endine or the distant peaks of Resegone di Lecco and Grigna Meridionale provides a constant, shifting backdrop to the work of the people. Whether visiting the GAMeC in Bergamo or the Museo Civico Ernesto e Teresa Della Torre in Treviglio, one senses the depth of local identity. The province moves with a steady persistence, finding beauty in the mist of the plains and the sharp geometry of the mountains, a place where history is not merely remembered but built into the daily routine of the inhabitants.
Explore Bergamo, Lombardy (Lombardia), Italy, with a Google street and satellite map — switch between the two with the buttons on the map. Street View gives a ground-level view along the roads. Coordinates: 45.7395, 9.7449. Place names, the comune and provincia hierarchy and the population come from Istat: the administrative boundaries of 1 January 2026 and the 2021 census of inhabited localities. Local and world news feeds keep the page current, and the bilingual description is written from the data this site holds rather than copied from elsewhere. This hub links to every comune in the Province of Bergamo and to 1,009 place maps in the provincia.
Search Maps opens a second, independent map. It searches OpenStreetMap for any Italian comune, frazione, mountain or landmark by name; overlays a labelled UTM grid quoted the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it; measures distance with grid, true and magnetic bearings between any two points; and takes a single GPS fix reporting your position as a Gauss-Boaga reference, as ETRS89 / UTM, and as latitude and longitude. Map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS position does not, so the grid reference stays correct where the map cannot load.
There is no topographic layer on these pages. The Istituto Geografico Militare serves its Carta d'Italia only inside the EU, so an Italian equivalent of the 1:25 000 walking sheet cannot be shown here — the UTM grid over OpenStreetMap is what stands in its place.
