Reading the map like an IGM sheet. Click Grid to lay a labelled UTM grid over the map, quoted along the edges the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it — at normal zoom the squares are one kilometre across, so a six-figure reference can be read by eye and distance judged straight off the map. Click Measure and tap two points for the distance between them with the grid, true and magnetic bearings, the last being the one to set on a compass.
Click 📍 My position for a single GPS fix. It marks where you are and reports it as Gauss-Boaga (the grid printed on the IGM Carta d'Italia), as ETRS89 / UTM (the grid Italy uses today), and as plain latitude and longitude, with a copy button so it can be pasted into a message. It takes one reading and stops, to save the battery. Map tiles need mobile coverage; a GPS reading does not — so the grid reference stays correct in the Apennines and the Alps, where the map itself often will not load.

Passirano lies within the gentle rise of the hills, where the morning light catches the dew on the vine leaves and the air feels perpetually stirred by the breezes from the nearby Torbiere d'Iseo. The landscape is defined by the proximity of Monte Valenzano and the way the Torrente Livorna carves its path through the soil. It is a place of quiet transitions, where the flat fields of the plain yield to the inclines of the prealpine landscape. Looking toward the horizon, one can trace the outline of the Corno del Creili, a silent presence that watches over the changing seasons of the countryside.
The life of the comune unfolds through its scattered localita, such as Monterotondo and Bettolino, where the rhythm of the day is governed by the cycles of the earth. Agriculture and the cultivation of the vine define the economy, anchoring the people to the cycles of the harvest. Beyond the immediate village, the land opens toward the waters of Lago d'Iseo, which sits a few kilometres away, reflecting the grey and blue shifts of the sky. The soil here, heavy and fertile, has sustained generations who have built their homes in the shelter of these slopes, close to the Fosso Longherone.
At the heart of the village, the Castello di Passirano commands the view, its stone walls bearing the weight of a long tenure over the valley. Near the parish church, the Parrocchia di San Zenone, the village square serves as the quiet center of community life. Further afield, the Monastero di San Pietro in Lamosa stands in the peaceful surroundings of the nature reserve, while the Castello Oldofredi remains a reminder of the historical fortifications that once defined these boundaries. The Chiesetta di Santa Maria in Castello completes this collection of sites, offering a space of stillness in the shade of the hills.

Explore Passirano, Brescia, Italy, with an embedded Google street and satellite map — switch between the two with the buttons on the map. Coordinates: 45.599277, 10.066366. Place names, the comune and provincia hierarchy and the population come from Istat: the administrative boundaries of 1 January 2026 and the 2021 census of inhabited localities. Local and world news feeds keep the page current, and the bilingual description is written from the data this site holds rather than copied from elsewhere. The 30 nearby places listed above are drawn from OpenStreetMap, the IGM toponym database and a curated list checked against Wikipedia.
Search Maps opens a second, independent map. It searches OpenStreetMap for any Italian comune, frazione, mountain or landmark by name; overlays a labelled UTM grid quoted the way a printed IGM 1:25 000 tavoletta quotes it; measures distance with grid, true and magnetic bearings between any two points; and takes a single GPS fix reporting your position as a Gauss-Boaga reference, as ETRS89 / UTM, and as latitude and longitude. Map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS position does not, so the grid reference stays correct where the map cannot load.
There is no topographic layer on these pages. The Istituto Geografico Militare serves its Carta d'Italia only inside the EU, so an Italian equivalent of the 1:25 000 walking sheet cannot be shown here — the UTM grid over OpenStreetMap is what stands in its place.
