It lies 5.7 miles south-south-west of Northfleet (from Northfleet: bearing 202°T, OS grid TQ 600 650), and is situated north-north-east of Ash village. Golden light frequently catches the chalky soil here, illuminating the fields where the land rises toward the crest of Hailwood Hill. West Yoke exists as a collection of dwellings that seem to hold their breath against the wider, more frenetic world. To the north-west, the dense canopy of Horton Wood provides a deep, verdant contrast to the open agricultural expanses that define the local horizon.
