It lies 1.7 miles north of Ramsbottom (from Ramsbottom: bearing 356°T, OS grid SD 788 196), and is situated south-south-west of Irwell Vale village. Industrial echoes persist in the sturdy masonry that anchors the hamlet against the prevailing northern winds, a gravity born from the legacy of textile production. A short distance to the north, the steep, shadowed contours of Kenyon Clough carve a jagged seam into the landscape, directing the flow of water and air through the narrow corridor.
