Lower Street emerges as a quiet collection of dwellings where the Norfolk horizon flattens into an expansive, watery sky. It lies 5.7 miles south-west of Stalham (from Stalham: bearing 215°T, OS grid TG 322 174), and is situated west-south-west of Upper Street village. The character of Lower Street is defined by its position within The Broads National Park, where the land yields easily to the encroaching moisture of the fens. To the south-east, the reeds of Hoveton Marshes sway in a perpetual, rhythmic dance, filtering the pale sunlight that defines this low-lying terrain. The nearby waters of Parson's Dyke carve a dark, reflective ribbon through the peat, drawing the eye toward the hidden depths of the landscape. Footpaths here remain damp underfoot, carrying the scent of rich, dark earth and the sharp, clean tang of aquatic growth.
