About Wheatley

The character of Wheatley is shaped by its proximity to the historic city of Oxford and its own distinct rural charm. It lies 8.5 km east of Oxford (from Oxford: bearing 94°T, OS grid SP 598 056), and is situated east of Littleworth village. Historically, Wheatley was a significant market town, and evidence of this past can still be seen in its layout and some of its older buildings. The surrounding landscape is predominantly agricultural, with rolling fields and woodlands characteristic of the South Oxfordshire countryside. Wheatley retains a strong sense of local identity, with a parish church, St. Mary’s, that has served the community for centuries.
