It lies 4.4 miles west-north-west of Shrewsbury (from Shrewsbury: bearing 299°T, OS grid SJ 429 161), and is situated north-north-west of Montford Bridge village. The entire locality falls within the River Severn At Montford SSSI, where the river’s heavy, silt-laden waters exert a calming influence on the surrounding pasture. Fields here stretch toward the gentle rise of Allens Hill, which breaks the horizon to the southeast with a modest, grass-covered silhouette.
