Little Worthen emerges from the Shropshire landscape as a quiet cluster of stone and timber that reflects the enduring character of the borderlands. It lies 10.2 miles north of Bishop's Castle (from Bishop's Castle: bearing 3°T, OS grid SJ 332 051), and is situated north-east of Worthen village. The Workhouse Brook flows with a steady, liquid clarity past the homesteads, carving a path that defines the local topography. To the north, the steep incline of Workhouse Dingle shelters the earth, holding the morning mist long after the sun has climbed over the ridges. Little Worthen retains a sense of seclusion, where the damp, fertile soil of the valley bottom yields to the rugged, wooded slopes of Aston Hill.
