It lies 2.9 miles south-east of Ilminster (from Ilminster: bearing 139°T, OS grid ST 389 110), and is situated south-east of Dowlish Wake village. The land here holds a particular quality of light, caught between the low, persistent ridges that define the horizon and the damp, shadowed hollows where the earth seems to breathe. To the south-west, the Stretford Water carves a slender, silver line through the fields, its movement marking the slow passage of seasons against the stubborn weight of the soil.
