It lies 4.3 miles west-north-west of North Petherton (from North Petherton: bearing 295°T, OS grid ST 225 359), and is situated south of Spaxton village. The air here holds the damp, cool scent of the nearby Peart Water, which cuts a narrow, winding path through the heavy clay soil. To the south, the deep shadow of Holwell Combe draws the eye, suggesting a quiet wildness that persists despite the tidy geometry of the surrounding fields. Pightley remains a place of singular perspective, where the light hits the limestone walls of the old farmsteads with a sharp, pale clarity.
