To the north, the waters of Ewden Bottom carve a slow, persistent path through the valley floor, turning the light into quicksilver during the late afternoon. Ancient echoes linger in the vicinity, particularly near the Bar Dyke linear earthwork, which marks a boundary between the modern day and a much older, silent history.
