It lies 2.5 miles north-north-west of Madeley (from Madeley: bearing 334°T, OS grid SJ 755 485), and is situated north-north-east of Ravenshall village. The architecture here retains a dignified composure, particularly where the black-and-white beams of Betley Old Hall cast long, sharp shadows against the afternoon sun. Much of the surrounding terrain falls within the protected boundaries of the Betley Mere SSSI, where the water mirrors the shifting grey of the English sky with startling clarity. Beyond the gardens, the Mere Gutter flows with a slow, deliberate persistence, carving a thin silver vein through the verdant pastures that have sustained this ground for centuries. The local church spire rises above the canopy, a silent sentinel that has watched the seasons turn over the tiled roofs and the village green.
