It lies 3.7 miles north-north-west of Banbury (from Banbury: bearing 326°T, OS grid SP 424 455), and is situated north-north-east of Horley village. The houses here are constructed from the local honey-coloured stone, which seems to trap the fading light of late afternoon long after the shadows have lengthened across the surrounding fields. To the west, the Sor Brook winds through the lower ground, marking a fluid boundary in the landscape that separates the heavy clay of the vale from the sharper, rising earth of the plateau.
