It lies 1.4 miles south-west of Cuckfield (from Cuckfield: bearing 216°T, OS grid TQ 292 229). To the south, the still surface of Marlpit Ponds holds the reflection of passing clouds, acting as a dark, glass-like anchor for the surrounding fields.
