Fox Holes marks a quiet pause in the Wiltshire landscape, where the land eases into a series of soft, rolling inclines. It lies 2.1 miles south-south-west of Warminster (from Warminster: bearing 196°T, OS grid ST 864 417), and is situated south-south-east of Crockerton village. The sunlight here often catches the damp, verdant floor of Shearwater Bottom, casting long shadows that stretch toward the horizon with a deliberate, slow-moving grace.
