It lies 5.2 miles north-west of Hungerford (from Hungerford: bearing 313°T, OS grid SU 276 741), and is situated south-east of Aldbourne village. The horizon here is vast and indifferent, dominated by the subtle, rounded rise of Marridge Hill which marks the eastern edge of the local topography. To the west, the land yields to the slopes of Ewin’s Hill, where the wind carries a sharp, clean clarity that seems to sharpen the edges of the stone walls.
