About Cakebole

Cakebole, a quiet hamlet, breathes the slow, damp air of the Wyre Forest. It lies 6.5 km south-east of Kidderminster (from Kidderminster: bearing 133°T, OS grid SO 878 723), and is situated south-east of Shenstone village. Here, the ancient woodland presses close, its leafy canopy filtering the sunlight into a dappled, shifting mosaic upon the lane. The very earth seems to hold the scent of damp leaf mould and the faint, sweet perfume of wild garlic in spring. Paths wind through the trees, leading to clearings where the silence is broken only by the rustle of unseen creatures and the distant call of a bird. The houses of Cakebole, modest and weathered, appear to have grown organically from the soil, their stone walls echoing the bedrock beneath.
