Granite-strewn hills rise to meet the brooding horizon above Tremar, where the air holds the sharp, metallic tang of an abandoned mining past. It lies 2.2 miles north of Liskeard (from Liskeard: bearing 9°T, OS grid SX 258 681), and is situated north-west of Rosecraddoc village. To the north-east, the ancient, hunched stones of Trethevy Quoit stand as a silent witness to a pre-Christian world, casting long, deliberate shadows across the moor.
